Late Dr. R. M. Bhansali
"The visionary starts with a clean sheet of paper, and re-imagines the world”
~ Malcolm Gladwell

To describe him, the late Dr. Manu Kothari at the K. E. M. hospital said of Dr. Bhansali... he had the strength of bones, the adaptability of cartilage, the tenacity of ligaments, the mobility of joints and the precision of muscles.

Dr. Rasiklal Maluckchand Bhansali, or "RMB" completed his Masters in General Surgery from the Grant Medical College in Mumbai and then sailed to the land of the Queen to complete his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and his M. Ch. Orth. from Liverpool. On his return to Mumbai, he extended his services to the K. E. M. and Sir H. N. Hospitals, going on to chair the department at both these hospitals.

His outstanding qualities included being a disciplinarian who never lost his temper at work, a teacher par excellence with lectures where you could not write notes, one of the most meticulous yet fastest surgeons who never rushed, a clinician who was adored by both patients and students. He was an avid photographer and traveller, with a thirst for knowledge, both professional and cultural.

His Orthopaedic legacy continues to flourish today, in the form of his son, Dr. Rakesh Bhansali, who is presently a Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Sir H. N. Hospital in Mumbai.
