Late Dr. M. A. Vali
"The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me"
~ Ayn Rand

Dr. M. A. Vali, an Orthopaedic Surgeon trained in India, initially opted to go to Pakistan after Independence, though he had ties to ancestral property in Nagpur. He chose to move to India later on, but it took time for him to obtain Indian citizenship and hence missed an opportunity to be appointed at the K. E. M. Hospital.

Though not attached to a medical college, he showed a lot of interest in academics & teaching and was incredibly friendly towards his colleagues. There was a tradition in the Bombay Orthopaedic Society that after the clinical meeting, all the attending members would be

hosted for a sumptuous biryani lunch by Dr. & Mrs. Vali at their residence. It was very popular amongst the members of the Bombay Orthopaedic Society. He always treated his juniors as colleagues & friends and was very closely associated with Dr. Joshipura and Dr. Chavara, with whom he shared a deep and profound friendship.

He was attached as an Honorary Orthopaedic Surgeon to Saifee and Kothari Hospitals in Mumbai.
