Dr. Arvind Goregaonkar dons many hats. A phenomenal academician, a popular teacher, an able administrator and the head of the busiest orthopaedic departments in the city of Mumbai, he juggles each responsibility with precision and panache. As a young orthopaedician, he considers himself fortunate enough to have worked under the guidance of stalwarts like Dr. N. S. Laud, Dr. V. T. Ingalhalikar and Dr S. S. Vengsarkar who sculpted him into the person he is today.

Recognised for his outstanding talents as a mentor, his consistent efforts have been hugely successful in improving the academic standards of his institution winning them the best clinical meeting award of the BOS, 6 times in the last 10 years. His journey in the BOS started in the late 90s and later, he conducted a successful WIROC 2002.

In the year 2018, he took over the mantle of the honourable BOS President with the presidential theme of “Vision Orthopaedicus - Navigating the future”. Under his illustrious tenure, 26 instruction courses of various sub-specialities were conducted in addition to successful flagship events.

WIROC 2018 was one to remember not only for its academics, but also for its non-academic sessions like the ‘ROC Tales’ which laid stress on important para-orthopaedic topics and life skills Committed to continuously improve every aspect of teaching and learning, Dr. Goregaonkar, popularly known as Dr. ABG aims to fulfil his vision of acquiring the highest standards of education for students and for developing a level of orthopaedics in the country which would match global standards.
