As a custodian of the legacy of Dr. K. T. Dholakia,
Dr. H. R. Jhunjhunwala marches on in his journey of
Orthopaedic Excellence.
With 52 years of experience as a Consultant
Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Post Graduate teacher
at the Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences
under his belt, he has performed close to 35,000
Orthopaedic surgeries till date.
A pioneer of the Russian Ilizarov Technique in India, he
has written chapters on Total Hip Replacement in
Orthopaedic textbooks.
His personal 'Hall of Fame' includes being the
'President in Office of the Indian Orthopaedic
Association for 2015-16, Past President of the ASAMI,
Emeritus Member of SICOT and the Chairman of the
Dr. K. T. Dholakia Foundation, which promotes
training in the sub-specialities of Orthopaedics.
He has been awarded the "Rashtriya Udyog Ratna
Award" in 2010, the "Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini
Award" in 2011, "The Jewels of Rajasthan Award" in
2012, the "Rajiv Gandhi Award" in 2012 and the "Agra
Ratna Award" in 2013.
His name is in the "Who's Who" book of eminent
personalities. A devoted family man, his generosity
and humanitarian nature is reflected in the fact that
he has performed over 10,500 surgeries for poor
patients free of cost.
Dr. Jhunihunwala continues to work at his flourishing
private practice at the Bombay Hospital in Mumbai.
