If one were to describe Dr. V. T. Ingalhalikar, the title
that would best suit him is "A master of all trades".
Besides being a gifted spine surgeon of considerable
repute and respected by the fraternity and patients
alike, Dr. Ingalhalikar is a phenomenal teacher, an
able administrator, an enthusiastic organizer, an ace
musician, a talented singer, a great photographer, a
certified yoga trainer and takes a keen interest in
regional literature.
An academician to the core, he has delivered over 23
orations and over 90 guest lectures all over the
world. He is credited with starting the first formal
'Spine Clinic' at the L. T. M. G. Hospital in Sion, the first
formal 'Back School' and the first 'Cadaveric Spine
Course' in India and also the first teaching course on
'Non-Surgical Care of the Lumbar Spine'.
As the Founder Secretary of the Association of Spine
Surgeons of India, he rose in its ranks to lead the
Association from the front as its President. The
'Prof. V. T. Ingalhalikar Gold Medal' for the Best Paper
at the ASSI Annual Conference bears a testament to
his legacy in the historic records of Indian Spinal
Surgery.
He continues to be a Senior Scientific Patron of the
Bombay Orthopaedic Society.
