Dr. Ram Prabhoo's tenure as the President of the
Bombay Orthopaedic Society may be considered as
‘Ram Rajya’ or the Golden Period of the Association.
Aptly so, because the Bombay Orthopaedic Society
hosted the Golden Jubilee Conference of the Indian
Orthopedic Association that year, under his
leadership.
A tenacious leader, a team builder, and a man with a
'Never Give Up' attitude, Dr. Ram Prabhoo dedicates
his success to his teachers who inspired and shaped
him into the man he has become.
Coming from the technical school, the young
Dr. Prabhoo took a natural liking to Orthopaedics and
was also inspired by the Silver Jubilee IOACON
Conference in 1980. At the time, he nurtured a dream
to conduct the Golden Jubilee IOACON, which he
fulfilled in 2003 when he won a bid for the conference
against Chennai and eventually conducted the most
successful IOACON Conference in 2005 in the city of
Mumbai. It was a task that was and is still considered
an extraordinary feat.
The conference, in this case, was held at two venues
simultaneously, which were quite a distance apart,
Dr. Prabhoo then went on to achieve the impossible
by having a temporary footbridge constructed,
connecting the venues. Achieving such feats that
seem next to impossible is the reason he was
rechristened 'The Man with the Golden Touch'
Dr. Prabhoo served the V. N. Desai Hospital as Head
of Orthopaedics till he retired. He has conducted
various conferences and courses for the B. O. S. and
other international Associations.
He continues to serve the Orthopaedic fraternity
diligently and with sincerity and honesty. This, he
believes, is the guaranteed mantra for success in life.
