Dr. A. G. Ambardekar

At 79, Dr. A. G. Ambardekar is a satisfied man. He very eloquently quotes Frank Sinatra's song, "I did it my way".

Born in an illustrious family, Dr. Ambardekar's father was an Anesthetist to the great Dr. K. T. Dholakia and had the opportunity of administering anaesthesia to many celebrities during his practice.

Dr. Ambardekar completed his Orthopedic Training from the K. E. M. Hospital in Mumbai in the year 1969 and pursued further training in England. He returned to India in 1971 and began working with Dr. N. S. Laud and Dr. V. T. Ingalhalikar at the Sion Hospital. He was exceedingly inclined towards academics and went on to publish 15 scientific papers in Indexed Journals.

During his academic career, which spanned nearly 30 years, he was a Post Graduate teacher and guide to almost 50 students including the Past President of the Bombay Orthopaedic Society, Dr. Ram Chaddha. He retired from the Sion Hospital in the year 2000 and was also a Professor of Orthopedics at the Bombay Port Trust Hospital fulfilling his passion for teaching.

He also pursues his orthopaedic practice at the Sushrusha Citizens’ Hospital in Mumbai.
