Dr.
Thakur comes across as a simple yet
sophisticated man. But make no mistake; his pen is
mightier than the sword, perhaps even the scalpel.
His command over the English language is
awe-inspiring; his choice of words impeccable and his
meticulous attention to detail is unmatched.
Often acting as a checkrein of the happenings of the
Bombay Orthopaedic Society, Dr. Thakur, along with
Late Dr. L. N. Vora, has been instrumental in
streamlining the workings of the B. O. S office.
After his Post Graduation at the K. E. M. Hospital in
Mumbai, Dr. Thakur went on to work at the R. N.
Cooper Municipal Hospital from 1975 to 1988. He
was then chosen to serve in the Royal Army of Oman
as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.
On his return, he was elected President of the
Bombay Orthopaedic Society in 1999. The B. O. S.
Book Award and the B. O. S. Calendar of Events were
started during his secretarial tenure from 1984 to
1987.
Dr. Thakur is a celebrated author in Medicine and has
written Post Graduate textbooks for orthopaedic
trainees, which are widely read and followed.
His dedication to the B. O. S. was clearly visible when
he chose to work as Honorary Treasurer in its Golden
Jubilee Year.
He has also conducted the Annual 'Day School'
Program, the first and only course of the B. O. S. that
caters to two specialties of Medicine, namely
Orthopaedics and Radiology. This was extremely
popular and attended by most.
