Dr. N. S. Laud
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall".
~ Nelson Mandela

It is said that a man is known by the Institutions that mould him. In the case of Dr. N. S. Laud, the matter is quite the contrary to this quote.

The Department of Orthopaedics at the L. T. M. G. Hospital and L. T. M. Medical College in Sion as well as that of the Sushrusha Citizens' Cooperative Hospital in Dadar are fine examples of the saplings of educations, nurtured from their incipience with love, care and passion, which have today bloomed into trees whose fruits we savour and the shade we favour.

The incredible journey of an exceptionally brilliant, kind, humble and hard-working human being is difficult, to sum up on a single page of a coffee table book. Yet, the academic life of Dr. N. S. Laud has been an open book for all to read, imbibe and get inspired. His journey at the L. T. M. G. Hospital, from 1965 to 1996, indeed showcases the stuff legends are made of. His inculcation of the System of Trauma Triage &

Audit, the introduction of the A. O. Systems for the first time in Mumbai, establishing the famous 'Sion Hospital Fracture Fixation Course', and his belief in Post Graduate teaching and nurturing young talent is evidence enough of a rich legacy of Orthopaedics, which he continues to contribute to even today.

His Message to young Doctors:
“We are fortunate to be amongst the fraternity that strongly believes in the art of symbiotic relationship between the seniors and juniors, the teachers and the taught. The most important thing is that one should always remain in search of acquiring knowledge and updates and be careful about market forces that mislead us”.

Dr. N. S. Laud continues to follow his passion for the Art and Science of Orthopaedics at the Laud Clinic & the Sushrusha Citizens' Cooperative Hospital in Dadar.
