Recognized as the pioneer of Rehabilitative Medicine in
India, Dr. M. V. Sant was a General
Surgeon by training. He was the Professor and Head of Orthopaedics
at the B. Y. L. Nair
Charitable Hospital and after retirement went on to establish the
“All India Institute of
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation”.
He was completely dedicated to the field of Orthopaedics and chose
to remain a bachelor
throughout his life. He was the President of the Bombay Orthopaedic
Society and went on
to become President of the I. O. A.
The M. V. Sant Prize for the Highest Aggregate Point at the M. S.
Orthopaedics University
Examination in Mumbai has been instituted in his fond memory.
