Late Dr. S. K. Bhandare
“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other”
~ John F. Kennedy

Trained under Dr. M. V. Sant in Mumbai, Dr. S. K. Bhandare pursued his Orthopaedic training in England. On his return, he joined the K. E. M. Hospital as an Asst. Honorary to Dr. Bhansali and Dr. C. G. Pradhan.

He was the first Orthopaedic Surgeon to join the Sushrusha Co-operative Hospital and later served the hospital in the capacity of Dean. Dr. N. S. Laud remembers him as someone who always wore a cheerful smile and was very affable.

He was an excellent teacher and a simplistic person. An active member of the Bombay Orthopaedic Society, Dr. Bhandare was always present for the clinical meetings and would share his vast experience of cases with Residents, his younger colleagues and students.
